Teletherapy FAQs

What is teletherapy?

Teletherapy is a convenient and affordable means of receiving online professional counseling services by phone, text, and video. Effectively, teletherapy takes place when counseling sessions are delivered remotely via phone, tablet, or computer.

How does teletherapy work?

Teletherapy is provided over a live video connection or via phone as a voice call or text. You receive the same treatment you would in person with the convenience of interacting from the comfort of your home or the privacy of your office.

Who are the counselors?

ACT Family Counseling has been serving communities in California since 1990. Our counselors range from licensed, trained, and accredited psychologists (PhD), marriage and family therapists (LMFT), social workers (LCSW/LMSW), and licensed professional counselors (LPC). All are qualified, experienced, and professional individuals ready to help you with your concerns.

How do phone sessions work?

Scheduling is made through our online portal once you are registered. You will receive an email with all the information to log into the portal where scheduling and sessions take place securely.

How does texting work?

Text Messaging counseling is conducted through our private and secure app. Information will be sent to you regarding our text messaging app so that you can easily connect with your therapist anywhere.

How does video counseling work?

Scheduling is made though our secure portal once you have completed registration. You will schedule with your therapist and use the online portal to connect for voice and/or video conferencing.

What’s better, face-to-face or teletherapy?

There are benefits of each which is why ACT Family Counseling and ACT Teletherapy offer the best of both therapies. ACT Family Counseling offers in-person counseling across our California network. ACT Teletherapy extends that service to you for scheduling at your  convenience and reach.

How am I billed?

Counseling is paid for in advance via credit card or via insurance. If arrangements have been made with your insurance, the co-pay can be paid online in advance of starting services.

Can I use my insurance?
